Friends of Holmebrook Valley Park - Nature Report – Nov 2011

It has been a good summer with the Park being awarded Green Flag status.

The Rangers did a brilliant job putting on lots of activities.

A family of swans joined us at the lake.

We managed to get on top of the spread of the invasive Himalayan Balsam. It may take up to 5 years to eradicate it.

Not such good news with regarding the crayfish. The nets that were left overnight caught a toad, small fish, leaches, but sadly no white clawed crayfish. This doesn’t mean there are no crayfish, but it doesn’t look healthy. A similar survey next year may determine whether or not they have established themselves.

The restored Sensory Garden looked good going into the autumn.
