Holmebrook Valley Park in Chesterfield has joined the prestigious ranks of best parks in the UK after it was awarded a Green Flag on 27th July 2011. Staff at Chesterfield Borough Council, who run the park, applied for the award for the first time and were delighted to be one of the 1,288 parks and green spaces in the UK to achieve an award.
A Green Flag is a sign to visitors that a park is well-maintained and well-managed, with excellent facilities and is a sign that the value of green space is widely acknowledged as vital to the local community Queen’s Park and Holmebrook Valley Park are two of a record number of parks and green spaces receiving the Green Flag Award this year, ensuring that even more of us now have access to well-managed, high-quality green spaces.
Cllr Chris Ludlow, Executive Member for the Environment at Chesterfield Borough Council said: “We take a lot of pride in maintaining and developing our parks to give residents a quality space they can enjoy. Recognition of our efforts in the form of Green Flag status is always welcome and we’re delighted that Holmebrook has joined the success of Queen’s Park this year.”

The Green Flag was again awarded in 2012, 2013, 2014,2015, 2016 & 2017.
